Vine Playground for Brands

People keep asking me, are you now a professional Viner? To be honest, I don't know how to answer that. Somehow, I want to stay 'amateur', with freedom doing experiments & error, adding another level of experiences.

Vine is always be my endless creative process, nurture my passion stamina. When brands contact me, fortunately they understand this. They even come, join & having fun together in the playground. Suddenly, we're all becoming children, doing something awesomely fun.

All I know is, being professional requires the joyful of childhood. And passion.

Our Children Create Their First Animation Project On Vine

They have been watching their dad doing some animation & stop-motion on Vine & examining on how doing a frame-by-frame animation. Suddenly they realized that they can create their own cartoon movie. So my older daughter drew 6 frames of animation & recorded it on Vine.

We created a private Vine account for her & get some selected/filtered followers to avoid online trolls or rude negative comments. Her Vine account is 'Arwen Shaula'. Let me know if you want to follow her Vine :)

Vine: Capturing Moments of London with Sketches

If you have days for London trip, what will you do?
Taking picture with your digital camera? Snap shot & go?

Try sketching the city with paper & pencil (or digital tablet). Take a sit, relax & enjoy the view for a moment. That's what I did for capturing the moment of London.

Here are some of the Vine videos.

Regent's canal

Great Portland Street

Regent's Park Cafe

Regent's Park Orchestra

London Tower Bridge

Windsor Castle

This day I forgot to bring my sketchbook. So a digital tablet would do :)

What Our Kids Can Learn With Vine app

Vine app is not just a social video app. Somehow, its 6 seconds duration limitation (or feature?) is perfect for our kids doing a short movie experiment.

Short Movie

What can they do in a very short 6 seconds video? Here are some examples on how our kids telling the story with 6 seconds video. They learn about mini storyboard & basic concept on visual storytelling.

"Where is Leia drawing? At the beach!"

"So many cars! Traffic jam!"

Stop motion & Animation

We all know Vine app is not a stop motion capturing app. But with its record-and-pause ability, our kids can learn how to make stop motion in easy & fun way. And with its short duration, they don't have to wait too long to see the stop-motion result.

"Danny the warrior duck."

"Driving a car. Oh no traffic jam!"

"The boat & the pirate."

Short movie with stop-motion

"Look! USS Enterprise from Star Trek!"

Problem is, Vine's age rating is 17+. Meands that I cannot install it in their restricted iDevices like iPod & iPad. And they cannot freely browsing other videos without their parents around.

Having Fun with Twitter's Vine

Been playing with Vine for week. Vine is Twitter's official social video, so we can make a short (6 seconds) video documentation, posted on Twitter.

But Vine is not only just for documentation, it's also handy for making experiment with animation/stop motion.

Or making a step-by-step or tutorial

Sketching Our Previous Adventure

Based on the photo from our previous trips, I make some sketches with Galaxy Note. I think it's possible (and convenient) to make on-the-spot sketching with it on a family travelling.

A corner of Grand Bazaar Sultanahmet, Istanbul

A tram passing in Sultanahmet, Istanbul

The corner of Blue Mosque, Istanbul

In the top of Citadel or Jabal Al Qal'a in Amman, Jordan

The guard in Petra, Jordan

Next travelling, we're going to bring the Galaxy Note & do some on-the-spot sketching along with our kids.
